Well, in today’s Chicago Sun-Times, Robert Novak goes into great detail about an issue that has been commented on: The Farm Bill and Farm Subsidies.  Sometimes, Robert Novak’s columns can be quite confrontational, but today’s article is different.  It sums up quite effectively the reasons why The GOP is in such disarray right now.

There is an article in The New Republic Magazine that addresses an issue that I personally think that society should not have as an issue. That is, “Will Whites Vote for Obama?” Why after all these years, do we need the divisions of race. Race issues have dominated this primary season and quite frankly, it has gotten old. Previously this blog has addressed this during the Reverand Wright issue and potential underlying issues of race-bating. here. here. & here. Now, many bloggers do not have a tribute page concerning Dr Martin Luther King on their blog: here, or know who Edward Brooke is besides what has been recently reported. It is a rarity to say the least.

There is enough blame to go around. However, the GOP has used racist tactics to scare voters during the 1988 Election (i.e. Willie Horton). Most recently tactics have been used in the Tenn Senate Race in 2006 against Rep Harold Ford. However, Democrats are just as guilty. They take advantage of their African American constituency by promising the world and failing to deliver. It is unforgettable when Toni Morrison called Pres. Bill Clinton “Our First Black President.” That is just as bad.

A dialogue needs to happen in this nation regarding race. A fine example of this was in the movie, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.” Below is the original trailer.

Though old, I think that the point is well established here. Personally, I think that we need to just have a low tolerance for stupidity. Though many say that this is “Being Politically Correct.” The reason why I posted the “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”trailer is to show where we were at 40 years ago in America. Though there has been decent strides, we still have to have to bring race into the conversation.

This is not an endorsement of Barack Obama. When this blogger votes, I will evaluate what I think is in the best interest of the nation. That is it. No extra issues. More Americans need to follow this pattern, otherwise, we will still have this debate in another 40 years.

Hello everyone, I saw this article written by David Frum of AEI and found it interesting from USA Today.  The GOP in many younger peoples minds are the party of failure from Iraq and Katrina.    They are the party of intolerance from Race relations and intolerant of Gays.   It is sad that the party of Ronald Reagan, that was full of optimism and hope, is to this point.   People want to be leveled with, not lied to.   David comments that the GOP needs to be viewed as potentially addressing the problem of the environment and tolerant of people that are not like them.   The election race seems so polarizing that it leads people to be disconnected, and not interesting in hearing people banter.        We can do better.
